Shopping from the Yukon

October 9th, 2013

06.09.13.11We’ve always loved Filson’s clothing and its origin story. But what was the Yukon really like when old CC set up shop to equip the prospectors headed north? From the fantastic Design Observer blog comes a collection of  photographs from an album recently sold at auction. I’m shopping from the sturdy pullover shirts, the stout jackets, and the wide-brimmed hats, although unless I’m actually prospecting I doubt such a lid would see much wear.06.09.13.4106.09.13.33

Archival Rolled Sleeves

June 20th, 2013

I’m not a big fan of summer weight garb.  I much prefer to modify my standard winter wardrobe of woolens and long sleeve cotton shirts for warmer weather  Why buy cotton poplin or linen or gingham for the abbreviated northwest summer (July-August) when you could just roll up your sleeves for the same degree of ventilation.  The Art of Manliness offers this detailed style guide for best practices on rolling your sleeves.  For exemplary examples from the archives, see below:

New Release: Archival Solid Tee for Women

September 10th, 2012

We are now offering our long sleeve tee for women in classic white. Our tees are made from the same high quality US-made fabric, with the same popular features as our men’s tees:

Sturdy and soft 7 oz. cotton jersey
Chain-stitched jersey neck tape
Cover-stitched collar and sleeve seams
Double needle sewn hems

We’ve added two special details for our women’s model: reinforced 2″ side vents for freedom of movement and a proportional neckline using narrow rib trim.

Our tees are built to withstand the rigors of daily use and regular washing without stretching or developing the small pin holes typical of lighter weight garments. These tees will last season to season, maintaining their color, their shape and their quality.

Women’s l/s tee also available in stripes.
