A few weeks ago, some friends and I ventured out to Robert Supply Co. to document some of the store’s more exotic product offerings and collect some archival footage. Although Roberts is an official (and well stocked) Filson dealer, the store specializes in logging equipment, industrial clothing and related supplies. If Archival Clothing were a brick and mortar store front, I’d design it to look like Roberts (maybe minus the large scale Carhart and Filson murals on the front of the building).
Unlike a boutique featuring expensive work wear in a gallery type setting (with exaggerated spacing between individual objects), I like how Roberts packs all its clothing into super well organized but tightly packed wooden shelving units. Here, all the clothing has an intended use value (beyond street wear value or solid good looks).
