I’m not a huge fan of horror. I prefer the first thirty minutes of a horror film before all the mayhem begins. For example, my favorite scene in Psycho is when Marion Crane buys a used car. It’s more pleasurable to follow Marion around shopping than seeing her get slashed to pieces at the Bates Motel. Against my better judgement, I revisited Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining this weekend. However, to my surprise, I found some unexpected shopping opportunities that distracted me from the film’s signature gore. Here are a few of my favorite outfits from the film. I’m planning to remix my wardrobe this season to riff on The Shining. I’m stocking up now on denim dungarees, cotton sweatshirts, henleys, plaid shirts, red parkas, kerchiefs and corduroy gauchos.
