A small run of waxed twill backpacks sewn in Portland, Oregon
These bags are sewn from a rare deadstock 22oz Scottish lightly waxed twill that is tough, supple, and beautifully structured. Each one is finished with vegetable-tanned leather straps and trim, dense mil-spec cotton webbing from England, and solid brass hardware.

Built for everyday use
• Two exterior side pockets
• One interior pocket
• Back panel padded with marine-grade closed-cell foam
Every bag is sewn in Portland, Oregon by Spooltown.
Small run
We made 50 bags total, roughly 24 per color.
A few notes about the build:
• Webbing color varies slightly by dye lot
• Leather parts show natural variation
• Rivets are hand-set. Tom whams them himself
• Straps are hand-cut, and we made a small tweak so they can be easily replaced if ever needed
They’re strong, repairable, and built for use.
The materials are meant to age well.
The waxed twill develops character with use. The vegetable-tanned leather darkens and softens over time. The brass hardware will wear in rather than wear out.
This is the kind of bag that improves the more it’s carried.
